People and Talent Lead
About Us
Comms8 is an award-winning cross-cultural marketing agency bridging global brands with Asian audiences. Alongside Comms8, we’ve launched InfluenConnect—a fast-scaling influencer tech platform transforming the way brands collaborate with diverse content creators. Together, both entities are evolving rapidly from boutique agency to technology-driven growth group.
We are now looking for a strategic, hands-on People & Culture Lead to shape our team experience and scale our people operations across markets. This role is foundational to our next chapter of growth.
The Role
This is a leadership position where you will own and lead the people strategy end-to-end across both Comms8 and InfluenConnect. You’ll work directly with the Founder and leadership team to design scalable hiring systems, foster a values-led culture, and develop our people into a high-performing, mission-aligned team.
We’re looking for someone who thrives in dynamic, multicultural environments, brings sound judgment, and can operate with both structure and agility. You should be excited by the opportunity to help shape a growing global team from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
1. People Strategy & Leadership
Partner with the Founder on team structure, organisational growth, and culture strategy.
Translate the Founder’s vision and company values into practical HR systems, rituals, and norms.
Act as a sounding board on sensitive issues, morale, and team engagement.
Identify capability gaps and lead workforce planning with a proactive mindset.
2. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
Own full-cycle hiring for roles across the UK, Asia, and remote regions.
Optimise recruitment systems (e.g. Workable, TestGorilla, Notion) to improve speed and quality.
Train managers on structured hiring and embed scorecards and interview best practices.
Build a scalable talent pipeline aligned with international growth plans.
3. Culture, Engagement & People Ops
Design and implement scalable onboarding, offboarding, and HR policies in line with local labour laws.
Lead grievance, conflict resolution, and employee relations (ER) matters with fairness and discretion.
Ensure HR operations comply with UK employment law and oversee risk areas (e.g. performance management, documentation).
Manage internal tools (BreatheHR, surveys) and promote clear, values-aligned communication across regions.
4. Learning, Development & Performance
Roll out performance frameworks, reviews, and career paths across the business.
Support manager development and internal training programmes.
Foster a continuous growth mindset across teams and geographies.
5. Compliance & Risk
Maintain HR compliance across jurisdictions, coordinating with external counsel when necessary.
Create clarity and structure around contracts, compensation, grievance procedures, and disciplinary action.
Prepare documentation and systems to support audit readiness and governance.
Requirements
Over 7 years of experience in People/HR management, including at least 3 years in a strategic senior HR or People leadership role.
Proven success in fast-paced, founder-led or entrepreneurial environments.
Strong grasp of UK employment law; exposure to international labour regulations (APAC preferred).
Demonstrated ability to build, retain, and support globally distributed, multicultural teams.
Strong EQ, sound judgment, and confidence to operate autonomously.
Growth mindset, with the ability to move between strategy and execution fluidly.
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and helping others do the same.
Nice to Have
Experience in marketing, tech, or creative/startup industries.
Mandarin, or Cantonese proficiency.
Experience implementing equity or share options schemes.
